Located on Vashon Island, Kim and Rosie are the husband and wife dream team behind Jefferson Cakepan. Together they run their small-batch bakery specializing in custom creations.
From cakes and cupcakes, to 'kookie sammiches' and personalized chocolatiering they offer a wide selection of unique confections. In addition to flour-powered desserts, they also offer gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free options using as many local ingredients as possible.
Rosie and Kim have over 15 years of experience in the event and wedding industry. They realize the importance of offering a hands-on customer service experience. The duo works closely with the wedding couple from start to finish. Rosie, who is also a professional drummer and engineer, has a passion for baking. He uses his math skills to create unique confections. Then Kim, who has a background in cosmetology, expertly decorates the desserts to match the event's style or theme.

Jefferson Cakepan also offers day-of services including replenishing your dessert items throughout your event, “topping” the wedding cake, cutting prep, and clean up. During the event, they work with your other vendors and catering staff to make sure they meet all aspects of the timeline. This includes being set up for the photographer to take pictures of your never frozen, always fresh, delicious cake!
WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE FROM THE EXPERTS:
We asked Jefferson Cakepan what advice they would give newly-engaged couples just starting their wedding planning adventure. Here is what Kim had to say:
"Make a realistic short checklist of items that you want at YOUR wedding. It can be really overwhelming to have so many choices, narrow them down and build from there. Choose items that YOU want. So often the wedding is about pleasing all of your family and guests, it's important to have items you are really excited about enjoying as well. Take time to enjoy all of your hard work and planning, celebrating each other. "
TRY THIS AT YOUR WEDDING:
Wedding trends come and go, here's what Jefferson Cakepan says is trending for wedding desserts:
"Small custom dessert items. Finger foods have made a huge trend leap. These mini-desserts limit the need for extra plates and utensils. This produces a lot less waste and gives guests the ability to try a few different flavors."
